JLPT BC 16 | Steps to Total Immersion

JLPT total immersionI’m excited to get my results back and find out that I passed N3.  I was a bit surprised by my scores, but I’m going to use that to focus on what I need to focus on.  It’s time to pass the N2 (and eventually the N1).

To stay on track and pass the N2 this July, I’m going to move toward total immersion of the language.  I know this may sound a little weird, because I’m already in Japan.  However, I’m an English teacher and it is incredibly easy to go through my day without speaking any Japanese whatsoever.

So, over the next couple of weeks I’ll be hunting down and changing over different parts of my life to become more ‘immersed’ in the language.  I’ve already found 3 areas that can be changed over to more Japanese, my iPod, my TV watching, and my reading.

I’ll be doing my best to change these over to be more immersed.  Along the way, I’ll give you some insights as to what worked and what didn’t, so be sure to join me over the next couple of weeks.

Action Steps –

1) How do you immerse yourself in the language?

2) Are you making use of every opportunity to absorb the language?
